When I first visited Dr. Amy Anderson in 2022, I was just turning 70. I was overweight, hunched over in pain and I could barely walk without hanging on to something. I purchased a cane that I was too embarrassed to use and I was on at least 7 different meds for high cholesterol, depression, pain and each had their own side effects. I suffered from low thyroid, seasonal depression and literally had no energy. I couldn't even walk up a flight of stairs without getting winded and breaking out in a sweat. A friend of mine recommended I see Dr. Anderson. First thing she did was extensive lab work and then sent me to get a bone scan which showed severe bone loss in my right hip. She took me off all but 3 of my medicines and changed some of those after seeing my lab work. After reviewing the bone density report she sent me to an orthopedic surgeon who determined I needed hip replacement. After surgery she recommended physical therapy. Fast forward to 2026: I have lost 55-60 lbs, am walking straight without assistance and can walk up stairs without pain, sweating or shortness of breath. I am more active than I have been in 10 years and am living a very happy productive life. I have made it through 4 winters without seasonal depression. I was impressed that she was more interested in treating the causes instead of prescribing more medication to cover up the symptoms. Going to see Dr. Anderson was a god-send for me. I no longer feel as if I am an old woman who has nothing to look forward to but getting older and more problems.
